Reading competition: Höxter crowns Anna as the best reader!
On February 13, 2025, the regional decision of the 66th reading competition of German book trade took place in the Höxter city library. Mayor Daniel Hartmann opened the event, to which twelve school winners from the entire Höxter district were invited. These talented children, all from sixth classes, had previously prevailed in their schools as the best readers and now competed against each other in Höxter.
In the competition, the participants not only presented their favorite books, but also read selected text passages that they had chosen themselves. In the second round, reading an unknown text was required, which put the children's reading skills to the test again. The jury was enthusiastic about the performance of the young readers and finally voted Anna Vogtländer from the Hüffertgymnasium in Warburg to the district winner.Anna Vogtländer as a circular winner
Anna not only impressed with her lecture from the well -known children's book "Ronja Robber's Daughter", but also with her excellent performance of the external text "Danger is our business". As all other participants, she received a certificate and book prices for her use. Anna Vogtländer will represent the Höxter district as a circular winner at the next decision.
The reading competition is organized by the Book Culture and Reading Promotion of the Börsenverein of the German Book Trade and aims to arouse enthusiasm for reading and to promote reading skills. Every year, around 600,000 students take part in this competition, making him one of the largest student competitions in Germany. The competition is under the patronage of the Federal President and receives support from the Foundation for Education and Social Affairs of Sparda-Bank and other Sparda banks. The reading competition has been carried out annually since 1959 and is aimed at schoolchildren of grade 6. The pupils compete against each other at various levels, starting with the decisions in classes and schools, followed by city, district, district and state decisions, to the federal final, which takes place in June of the following year. The regional rounds of the reading competition take place between the end of January and the end of February, and every year almost 7,000 school winners take part in nationwide ongoing information .
