Wolfgang Niedecken demands more courage against the right in the media!

On April 6, 2025, BAP singer Wolfgang Niedecken expressed the urgent desire for more openness in the media, especially when engagement against the right. The 74-year-old complains that songs that clearly position themselves against racism and neo-Nazism are hardly played on the radio. "The media have to play a role in supporting the music industry in this area," explains Niedecken of the press.

With his experience and the initiatives in which he is active, Niedecken tries to promote engagement against right -wing radical tendencies in society without falling into exaggeration. He played an important role in the "Ass Huh, Zäng Usenander" initiative, which already caused an impressive mobilization of around 100,000 people to a demonstration against the right in 1992.

A life's work recognized

For his use, Niedecken was recently awarded the Radio Rainbow Awards in Rust for his life's work. In his acceptance speech, he emphasized the need for musical statements against racism and his fighting in society.

In addition to Niedecken's commitment, there are numerous musical initiatives in Germany that take a position against right -wing extremism. In September 2018, around 65,000 people in Chemnitz gathered under the motto "We are more", a concert organized by Felix Kummer from the Barklub, which was celebrated with appearances by renowned artists such as K.I.Z., Marteria, Casper and the dead pants.

regular musical statements

Another important event was the concert "We stay more" in 2019, where Herbert Grönemeyer and Alligatoah performed. This illustrates how strong music in Germany is seen as a means of racism and for a diverse society.

An example of an annual event that is devoted to the fight against the right is the festival "Rock against Right" in Düsseldorf. Such events and the continuous efforts of artists such as Niedecken contribute to the creation of consciousness and a solidarity community that actively opposes right -wing extremism.

The music scene shows through its commitment that it is an important part of the social movement against racism and continues to find creative and touching ways to spread the message of tolerance and diversity.

The extensive use of artists and initiatives has also shown in the past that music can form a strong unity against xenophobia and intolerance through music. These efforts are not only a sign of resistance, but also an invitation to everyone, actively campaigning for a cosmopolitan and various society.
