Future of the retirement home in Dipperz uncertain - DRK examines takeover!

In Dipperz, construction work at the "Habitat on Holzbach" care facility has been suspended since the Pokrzewinski Family Foundation has filed for bankruptcy. This situation not only raises questions about the future of the senior center, but also affects the remaining 13 residents who report defects in the building. The financial situation has caused uncertainty and the threat from bankruptcy is noticeable for the residents.

The German Red Cross (DRK) Fulda has started to check a possible investment in the system. Nadja Hartung, consultant for the DRK press and public relations work, confirmed that participation in the bidding process is currently being considered in the bankruptcy proceedings. It remains unclear whether the DRK actually wants to invest because the documents are still checked by the insolvency administrator. Meanwhile, Mayor Klaus-Dieter Vogler gave his positive signal for a takeover by a regional operator.

background of bankruptcy

The bankruptcy of the Pokrzewinski Family Foundation has far -reaching consequences. The foundation is not only responsible for the “Habitat at Holzbach” project, but also for other important construction projects in East Hesse, such as the construction of the Maltese rescue station in Kleinlüder. The law firm Brinkmann & Partner, under the direction of Dr. Jan Markus Planther, analyzed the situation and published comprehensive information on the bankruptcy proceedings.

The foundation manages important care facilities, and the construction project in Dipperz was originally supposed to include 60 fully inpatient care places as well as day care and assisted living with 19 residential units. However, the construction has been quiet since autumn 2023, and building materials are now scattered on the premises.

Current developments

The threat from bankruptcies in the care industry is not new. Current figures show that in 2023 a total of 66 nursing homes, 374 nursing services and 128 daily places had to close in Germany, which corresponds to a loss of 3,339 fully inpatient places and 19,356 patients. These numbers are alarming and illustrate the difficulties with which care facilities are faced. Increasing legal requirements and increatibility drive the facilities into the bankruptcy.

In the case of the Pokrzewinski Family Foundation, it remains to be seen how the situation will develop. Nurona GmbH, which is also active in the region and provides care services in the foundation's real estate, is not affected by the bankruptcy. However, the uncertainties about the “Lifestyle Holzbach” project ensure concern in the community and question the quality of life of the residents.

So far, both the insolvency administrator and Mayor Vogler have been covered in terms of the future of the center. The hope of a positive turn rests on the intensive examination by the DRK and the possible discussions with regional providers.
