As part of the coalition agreement (2021-2025), the Federal Government decided to intensify the fight against human trafficking. This includes the development of a national action plan against human trafficking and the establishment of an independent monitoring point for the implementation of the European Convention.

A federal-state working group to combat human trafficking was set up to develop cross-departmental strategies. This working group, consisting of representatives of various ministries, unions and civil society organizations, has already developed a strategic concept that pursues six central goals:

Germany has committed itself to a sustainable fight against exploitation through the ratification of international agreements, such as the European Convention on combating human trafficking and the Ilo protocol on forced labor. At the same time, Germany was awarded a Pathfinder Country within Alliance 8.7 to abolish forced labor and child labor.
