On Tuesday, April 29, there were two traffic accidents in the connection area between the A61 and the B50 near Rheinböllen. These incidents caused significant traffic disorders and led to a temporary blocking of the highway.

The first accident occurred early in the morning at 3:20 a.m. A 46-year-old driver of a heavy transporter and a 59-year-old driver of a semitrailer touched in the departure area. The heavy transporter wanted to depart from the A61 to the B50 in the direction of Simmern, while the tractor -trailer wanted to drive up from the B50 to the A61 towards Koblenz. Fortunately, both drivers remained unharmed. Small property damage occurred on the vehicles, the load of the heavy transporter was slightly shifted. The departure area remained closed until 4:50 a.m.

In addition to these incidents, the truck of a 54-year-old driver had overturned on Monday in the construction site between Rheinböllen and the Hunsrück-West tank and rest area. The truck, which had loaded several tons of glue, crashed into the side protection walls and the exact cause of the accident is currently unclear. However, the driver was able to free himself from the cab.
