The rescue workers, including an emergency doctor from Holzminden and the ambulance from Höxter, were quickly on site to take care of the injured. The local fire brigade secured the scene of the accident and eliminated the debris, while the police officers redirected the traffic at the point. The incident led to a considerable backlog in both directions, which made the traffic situation even more difficult. People in the Bundeswehr truck include the driver and a passenger, both of whom were unharmed.

Another traffic accident occurred on Godelheimer Strasse in Höxter on Sunday. Here an 18-year-old BMW driver from Holzminden came off the road with a 17-year-old passenger. The BMW overturned after a left-right curve combination. The reason for this was "non -adapted speed", as the police stated. The car tore off a barrier with a light signal system and ultimately landed in the track bed.

Both occupants of the BMW were slightly injured and received help immediately from the Höxter emergency services, which was also alerted. The Höxter fire truck of the volunteer fire brigade secured the accident site and ensured fire protection. The rail traffic had to be stopped until the vehicle was rescued, which brought additional restrictions for travelers. The property damage was estimated at around 20,000 euros, and the traffic regulation at the level crossing was carried out by the railway employee.
