Insurance coverage only with a valid black license plate

From March 1st, all mopeds must have a black insurance number instead of a green one. Vehicles that require an insurance license plate include, for example, mopeds, mopeds or scooters, light mopeds, Segways or light quads. The latter may not have a displacement of more than 50 cubic centimeters and may not drive faster than 45 kilometers per hour.

A valid license plate is important. Anyone who sets off without one has no insurance cover and is committing a criminal offense. If the moped is not taken out of the garage until later in the year, the insurance license plate can only be purchased later. The premium amount then depends on the actual period of use. For example, anyone who drives from May pays not for twelve months, but for ten months, i.e. until the end of the current traffic year. The license plates can be purchased directly from the insurance company: online or on site.

The little relatives of motorcycles are not only often involved in accidents, they are also often stolen. Both show that comprehensive insurance coverage is necessary. This is particularly true for accidents involving personal injuries. For example, if a well-earning, young father is seriously injured in a traffic accident due to the fault of a scooter rider and sustains permanent damage, compensation in the millions is quite realistic. S-Pedelecs must also have an insurance license plate: On these fast Pedelecs, the motor support is only switched off at 45 kilometers per hour.
