New opening in Centro Oberhausen: Oakberry brings Acai-Bowls!

in the Centro Oberhausen, one of the most important shopping centers in the Ruhr area, two new shops are celebrating their opening. The first newcomer, "Oakberry", opened its doors in the course of spring 2025, while "Footkorn" started its opening for March 22, 2025. Together they enrich the diverse range of centros, which includes over 250 shops and a sales area of 125,000 square meters. The new opening of Oakberry was announced via social media at the beginning of the year and represents the fourth German location of this Brazilian chain, which specializes in ACAI bowls and smoothies.

"Oakberry" offers a number of snacks from pureed and frozen fruits, the focus is on the popular Acai-Bowl, which has its origin in Brazil. The location is located on the first floor of the Centro and was temporarily marked as "closed". So far, the chain has already been available in cities such as Düsseldorf, Cologne and Frankfurt am Main. A poster in the shopping center confirms the opening and already awakens the anticipation for the new place of pleasure.

Another highlight: Footkorn

on the ground floor of the centros, right next to the newly opened shop NZA New Zealand Auckland, Footkorn will expand the range by streetwear, training suits, jerseys and sneakers. The opening of the business is planned for March 22, 2025 and promises to offer a wide range of trendy fashion items, which should particularly appeal to younger customers.

The Centro is not only a shopping experience, but also plays an important role in the central supply of the region. The variety of business makes it a popular destination for shopping lovers. The redesign and expansion of the offer with new stores such as Oakberry and Footkorn will certainly help to further increase the attractiveness of the shopping center.

context of the shopping center landscape

The renovation and expansion of other large shopping centers in the region, such as the Rhein-Ruhr-Zentrum in Mülheim an der Ruhr, show the dynamic change in the retail landscape in the Ruhr area. A "shopping department of the future" will be realized there by 2027 with a budget of 180 million euros, which is intended to significantly increase the number of visitors. These developments make it clear that the Centro Oberhausen, like other shopping centers, is constantly striving to adapt to the needs and wishes of the customers and to shine through innovative approaches in retail.

The opening of Oakberry and the upcoming opening of Footkorn are therefore not only important events for the centro, but also part of a larger trend that shapes retail in the region.
