Performance march of the reservists: Fitness proven!

On February 17, 2025, the KLF performance march of the district group of the Osthessen district of the Association of the Reservists of the Deutsche Bundeswehr e.V. (VDRBW) will take place. This event will be held at the Waldparkplatz am Plätzer in Burghaun and expects around 30 reservists. The march aims to maintain and promote the physical performance (KLF) of the participants, a requirement that is specified in a central instruction of the Bundeswehr.

The participants have the choice between distances of 6, 9 and 12 kilometers, with each march in the field suit with a backpack of at least 15 kilograms of marching baggage. The reserve captain (i.e. R.) Thomas Niedenthal organizes this performance test, which is usually offered twice a year. An important facet of the event is also the invitation to guests who are not reservists.

Diverse focus of the East Hesse district group

The district group Osthessen has around 1,200 members and consists of 27 reservist comradeships and 13 reservist working groups (RAG). Under the chairmanship of Sven Fey, Stabbotoffician d. R. and the first deputy chairman of the Hesse state group of the reservist association, the group focuses on various core activities. This includes security policy work, military training, physical fitness, shooting sports and social commitment.

The cooperation with civilian and emergency services as well as cooperation with NATO forces is particularly emphasized. These versatile activities show the commitment of the reservists to strengthen their own skills and to make a contribution to the community.

performance marches in other regions

The district group Düsseldorf - Bergisch Land of the VDRBW also organizes a performance march in parallel to the activities in East Hesse. This will take place on February 22, 2025 in the Waldkaserne Hilden. The event is an association event with uniform carrier permit and also aims to improve the physical performance of the participants in order to ensure operational ability. The march disciplines range from 6 km in 60 minutes to 12 km in 120 minutes, with sufficient physical and psychological performance being required.

Overall, the performance march is not only a challenge for the individual reservists, but also an essential element of military training, which strengthens the community among the participants and promotes its operational readiness. Further information on the services and events of the reservists can be viewed on the official website of the Reservistenverbandes
