Eight talented judoka from Warsaw, who represented years from 2009 to 2011, competed together with two supervisors to take part in this important event.

The Judo Club 71 e.V. and the North Rhine-Westphalian Judo Association e.V. acted as the organizer. The large sports hall of the Hulda-Pankok comprehensive school offered the framework for this exciting tournament, in which around 200 female judoka from Germany, Poland, the Netherlands and Belgiums took part. The international character of the event was not only a sporting challenge, but also a valuable opportunity for cultural exchange.

cultural experiences during the stay

The young athletes had the opportunity to discover the beauties of Düsseldorf away from the mat struggle. Especially the Rhine tower, a symbol of the city, attracted many visitors. On the evenings after the exciting competitions, the girls explored the Japanese district "Little Tokyo", which is known around the Immermannstrasse. This contributed to enriching her stay and strengthening the intercultural encounters.

This exchange was largely supported by the means of the sports office of the city of Düsseldorf for international sports contacts, which underlines the importance of such events. The promotion of international sports relationships is an important component in order to form young athletes not only sporty, but also culturally.

Overall, the tournament not only remained a competition for medals, but also a festival of friendship and learning between the countries. The participation of the judoka from Warsaw promoted understanding and cooperation across national borders and represented an important step in the development of young talents. The positive response to the event is already hoping for a reunion next year if the 7th judo open will take place in Düsseldorf.
