Young volunteers wanted: Become Heimatheld 2025!
Young people in the Sauerland from April 28, 2025 have the opportunity to apply for the "Heimatheld 2025", which is eagerly awaited. The Volksbank Sauerland, together with the Westfalenpost, has launched this initiative in order to honor and promote the voluntary commitment of young people between the ages of 18 and 30. The campaign bears the title #heimathelden and aims to make young people visible, take responsibility in their clubs and organizations.
All young customers of the Volksbank Sauerland are eligible to participate, who are involved in a club or a non -profit organization (e.g. in sports, culture, social work or youth work). Particular attention is paid to projects related to sustainability, promoting young talent or recruitment. Applicants have the opportunity to present their personal volunteer experience and the function they perform in their club.
application details and jury decisions
The application options are diverse, whereby social projects are particularly desirable to strengthen the coexistence. An expert jury will check and evaluate all submissions. The "Heimatheld 2025" award is not only an honor, but will also be associated with financial support for the respective association. The application deadline ends on June 30, 2025, and it is of great importance to bring in creative and sustainable ideas.
This initiative is part of the commitment of the Volksbank Sauerland, which also supports the annual “Pro Honorary Pulp” award. This price, which is awarded a total of five times a year, serves to rescue and appreciate silent helpers in the bank's business area. The price is rewarded with a scholarship of 500 euros, which is also presented in the bank at a festive reception. These awards are characterized by social voluntary commitment and illustrate the importance of volunteers in society.
The importance of volunteering
voluntary activities are of enormous social relevance. According to the "Fifth German Volunteer Course" (FWS), 39.7% of the people aged 14 and over are involved in Germany, with young people and young adults being the largest group. This commitment not only has an impact on the community, but also promotes individual skills and strengths of those involved. Popular areas for volunteers include sports clubs, leisure organizations, and citizens' and youth centers. A large part of the fire protection in German cities is also ensured by volunteer fire brigade, which underlines the importance of the volunteer.
For many young people, the start of volunteering is often motivated by the private environment. The programs offered here such as the Voluntary Social Year (FSJ) or the Federal Voluntary Service (BFD) offer structured opportunities for commitment and are an excellent basis for gaining insights into different professional fields. Online platforms such as "Volunteer search", "Govolunteer" or the "Letsact" app make it easier to find the right voluntary work.
Young people and young adults are not only the driving forces of many non -profit projects, but they also actively contribute to improving their communities. The "Heimatheld 2025" award offers a valuable opportunity to appreciate the invisible work of these young people and to support the social projects in which they are active.
