Klingbeil brings Bundes budget to the cabinet in 2025 before summer break!

On May 7, 2025, Lars Klingbeil is the new finance minister and Vice Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. He has set himself the goal of bringing the federal budget into the cabinet for 2025 before the upcoming summer break. This was agreed in a conversation with the CDU chairman Friedrich Merz. The budget for 2023 was not decided in December due to the break of the traffic light coalition last year, which meant that the ministries have had to work with a preliminary housekeeping since then. Klingbeil emphasized that the Ministry of Finance was a "well -ordered house" and sees its role not only as a finance minister, but also as Minister of Investment to set growth impulses and increase investments.

The coalition leaders of the SPD, Greens and FDP explained the results of the intensive negotiations on the federal budget in a press conference. These discussions lasted a total of 80 hours. Appearance was agreed that the debt brake is observed. It was found that there was no emergency that would justify a deviation from this regulation. The draft for the 2025 budget provides for more financial resources for families and the working population, without cuts in the citizen benefit. In addition, increases in child benefit and children's surcharge are planned.

planned measures and reactions

Another central element of the budget draft is the introduction of a dynamization package entitled "New Growth for Germany". This package aims to reduce bureaucracy and promote investments. Furthermore, measures to combat undeclared work and to increase voluntary working hours for employees should be implemented.

The coalition parties are optimistic about the agreement that was now obtained before the parliamentary summer break. SPD parliamentary group leader Rolf Mützenich expressly welcomed this. However, the design must still be checked in detail. The Greens boss Ricarda Lang emphasized the importance of the ability to act in the current geopolitical situation. CDU boss Friedrich Merz speaks against a reform of the debt brake, while CSU politician Alexander Dobrindt expresses skepticism with regard to the agreement and warns of possibly chaotic budgetary conditions.

The coalition intends to decide the budget in the Federal Cabinet in July. After that, the Bundestag will deal with the draft from mid -September. A final decision could take place at the end of the year. At the same time, the economic methods can be closed by a reduced economic forecast of only 0.2% growth on Weak Demand.

Klingbeil's plans are also linked to the idea of a "growth turbos" that should promote private investments and improve the tax depreciation for companies. This could become essential for the German economy, against the background of weakening demand and abbreviated growth forecast.
