EU music: New network for young talents inspires Aachen!
On March 5, 2025, the city of Aachen announced that the Musikschule Aachen and the Musikakademie of the German-speaking community of Belgium founded a new European network called "EU Music" as part of the Erasmus+program. This initiative aims to offer young musicians the opportunity to take part in workshops, concerts and other joint activities in a cross -border environment.
EU Music has been in existence for three years now and has developed as a platform on which the focus is on making music together. As part of the annual program, participants can participate in symphony and chamber music ensembles and gain experience in baroque music and improvisation. Practical workshops are also offered that deal with stage presence and body work. Professional lecturers and international musicians from Germany, Belgium and Switzerland lead these programs and thus promote the artistic development of the participants.
focus on inclusion and exchange
A central concern of EU Music is to promote inclusion, exchange and joint music music. The cooperation with the youth disaster orchestra Aachen and the Aachen living room concerts e. V. additionally expands the network and strengthens community formation in the cultural sector. The audience and community benefit from the concerts and appearances that take place in both public spaces and in social institutions.
This commitment reflects the thematic priorities of the Erasmus+program that aims to support people in coping with social challenges. In particular, promoting inclusion and diversity, digital transformation and participation in democratic life are central to program design. Erasmus+ is aimed at various educational institutions and age groups, whereby the focus is on adult and vocational training as well as youth projects. The initiative therefore emphasizes that the cultural programs also promote intercultural exchange and deal with topics such as climate and participation.
funding opportunities and examples
The Erasmus+program offers various funding opportunities, including the learning mobility of individuals and the cooperation of organizations. In learning mobility, individuals or groups can take part in international exchange programs, which also includes projects in the cultural and creative sector. An example of this is a theater project that integrates youth work in dealing with human rights.
In the cooperation between organizations and institutions, cultural institutions can develop long -term partnerships to develop including learning methods and to exchange good practice. In the last program generation, a European youth theater movement was promoted, among other things, which is dedicated to strengthening human rights and civil society.
