Traffic chaos in Hans-Böckler-Allee: closure for electricity transformers!

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the Hans-Böckler-Allee will be completely closed to car traffic at the number 40 house. This was announced by the city of Aachen. The reason for the blocking is the exchange of a current transformer by the region network. Despite the restriction for drivers, access for pedestrians and cyclists will continue to be possible.

A car crane is used for the measure, which underlines the need for blocking. The Hans-Böckler-Allee is an important access to Neuenhofer Weg, where there are residential and clinic buildings. The Neuenhofer Weg near Vaalser Straße is currently also closed due to a building measure from Abiomed. This information was published on February 25, 2025 to inform the residents and road users in good time.

sustainability engagement of Continental

The new building is not only an architectural highlight, but also integrates numerous environmentally friendly technologies. The rooftops of the parking garages are equipped with solar panels that generate up to 300,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year. This electricity is used, among other things, for 100 charging stations for electric cars and bicycles in the parking garages. In addition, rainwater is collected and a geothermal system ensures the energy -efficient heating and cooling of the building.

ecological design and working conditions

The open office space of the new headquarters take natural materials such as wood, stone and natural fibers into account in order to create a pleasant working environment. Other sustainable elements include sound -absorbing ceiling elements and mobile partitions that offer both flexibility and comfort.

The commitment of Continental for sustainability and innovative architecture illustrates the trend that companies are increasingly relying on environmentally friendly practices. These developments, supplemented by the infrastructural measures in Aachen, reflect the current focus on sustainable urban and corporate development.
