TVE basketball players celebrate surprising district championship titles!

On May 9, 2025, the U14 basketball team of TV Emsdetten achieved great success: they secured the district championship title after an exciting game against the guests from Recklinghausen. This game was crucial because the guests needed a win with at least 15 points to push the TV on 1st place in the table, which significantly increased the pressure. The team of the TVE competed in full strength except for the injured Rieke Mense and the privately prevented trainer Inka Schmedt.

The course of the game was characterized by intensive moments. The game started at first, and after six minutes it was 8: 8. At the end of the third quarter, Emsdetten was 42:45 behind. But the team came back sharply, the game turned from 46:51 in the 33rd minute to 60:55 in the 37th minute. In the final phase, the team demonstrated nerve strength and secured the 66:60 victory, causing them to secure the district championship title. Coach Yesin and Rengers not only praised the victory, but also the development and perseverance of the girls. After the final whistle, a “master photo” was taken and the team received suitable master shirts.

Not only the TV Emsdetten celebrated success, the girls from the Petrinum high school also showed their skills. In another exciting game for the district championship of the girls (competition class III, born in 2005-2008) they competed against the Wulfen comprehensive school. The game took place last Friday and was characterized by numerous ups and downs. Unfortunately, the Petrinum grammar school was three points behind when there were only eight seconds on the clock. The outstanding player Clara Bielefeld had the chance to equalize, but her litter on the 3-line went just wrong.
