Cleaning forces in the Mettmann district: wage increases from January 2025!

From January 2025, new regulations apply to the remuneration of cleaning staff in the Mettmann district. The hourly wages for these employees are raised to 14.25 euros, which represents an increase of 75 cents compared to the previous wages. This adaptation particularly affects the interior cleaning of buildings. The following year, in 2026, the wages will increase to 15 euros per hour. IG Bau Düsseldorf also reports on a wage increase of over 11 percent within the past two years for employees in the building cleaning industry.

In the district of Mettmann, around 5,040 people are employed in building cleaning, including glass and facade cleaners. For this professional group, the hourly wage increases to at least 17.65 euros per hour, which means an increase of 95 cents. Another important point is to increase the training remuneration: From January 2025, trainees will start building cleaning with a salary of 1,000 euros per month, which is an increase of around 100 euros. In the second year they receive 1,150 euros and 1,300 euros in the third year.

The changes are the result of an agreement that was achieved on November 15, 2024 in Cologne during the tariff conflict in the building cleaner craft. From January 1, 2025, the increase of 0.75 euros per hour will take effect before another increase by 0.75 euros per hour a year later. The lowest wage group 1 will thus reach 15 euros per hour, while the wage groups 6 and 7 will experience an increase of 0.95 euros and then by 0.75 euros. The minimum sector for glass and facade cleaners (wage group 6) will finally be 18.40 euros per hour.

The new training allowances for 2025 are also significant: in the first year of apprenticeship, the payment is 1,000 euros, in the second year at 1,150 euros and 1,300 euros in the third year. The term of the new collective agreement is two years and negotiations on long -term annual special payment are scheduled to begin in November 2025. The total income in the building cleaning trade amounts to over 26 billion euros, with around 700,000 people working in the industry, around 500,000 of which receive the minimum sector. This is currently 13.50 euros, for glass and facade cleaners at 16.70 euros.
