Florian Wirtz remains loyal to Bayer Leverkusen - future secured by 2027!

Florian Wirtz, the central player of Bayer 04 Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, signed a new contract until June 30, 2027. This shows the endeavor of the association to bind the talented 19-year-old international in the long term to the club. Wirtz has already achieved 14 scorer points this season after 15 match days and is considered one of the most valuable players worldwide, with a market value of currently 70 million euros.

Fernando Carro, club director of Bayer Leverkusen, expressed optimistic about the future of Wirtz. He strives for the player to stay in the club at least until the 2026 World Cup. Carro stated that a decision about the future of Wirtz could be pending in the coming months and emphasized the importance of a contract extension in order to avoid a possible sale with only one year of the remaining contract period 2026. Carro described the situation as "difficult" if there should be no negotiations on a new contract.

Florian Wirtz, who moved from 1. FC Köln to Leverkusen in January 2020, established itself in the first team in this short time. Despite a cruciate ligament injury that he suffered in March 2023, he was involved in 24 goals before the injury in 31 games. In his previous career at Bayer Leverkusen, Wirtz performed a total of 41 games and collected 78 missions. In September 2022 he made his debut for the German national team and has played four caps since then.
