"Fascism and extremism are spreading all over the world. Now the time is to defend yourself against it," said a representative of the organization.

background of the protests

demands like "Fingers away!" were prominently on signs in Washington D.C. shown in front of the White House, while tens of thousands of participants have conveyed a strong message against the hollowing out of democracy and the rule of law in America. In one of the greatest demonstrations in Washington, the organizers expected over 20,000 participants, but this was significantly exceeded by the actual number of participants.

protest culture in Europe and the USA

The protests are not only limited to the United States. Numerous European cities such as Berlin, Rome and Paris have also organized demonstrations. In Berlin, groups such as Campact and Greenpeace protested against Trump's politics, while in London hundreds of Americans took to the streets. The protest in Berlin, especially against Musk, took place in front of a Tesla exhibition space, where the police spoke of 250 participants, but reported the organizers of hundreds.

The mood among the demonstrators is characterized by concern about the direction that US policy takes under Trump. The topics of the demonstrations include not only the political decisions already mentioned, but also social aspects that could lead to an alarming degree of injustice in society. Over 1,200 protests were planned nationwide in the United States, also with actions in Canada and Mexico, which reflects the fundamental concerns of the citizens about the current administration.

The coming days in Cologne and elsewhere will show how strong the dissatisfied voices are. In the face of such events, the global community is invited to show their support and actively participate in these protests.
