New construction of the Realschule Plus in Birkenfeld: groundbreaking for the future!

The Birkenfeld district recently started the new building of the Realschule Plus and technical college (FOS). An important project that should not only improve the educational landscape on site, but also complements the historical existing building. The groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion building took place on Thursday morning and was duly celebrated by several officials and representatives of the school community. Among those present were District Administrator Miroslaw Kowalski, district director Roland Praetorius and the headmistress Sigrid Creator, who highlighted the importance of this project.

The three -storey cultivation is built on the gable side of the existing school building. The planned equipment includes eleven classrooms and three specialist rooms that are to be equipped with the latest technology. In addition, the building will offer barrier -free toilets and an elevator to meet all students. These new premises are to be used from the school year 2027/28, which matches the completion of the shell in October 2025. After moving to the new building, renovation work on the existing scientific rooms is also planned.

The total costs for the new building amount to around 8.5 million euros. Of these, the state and community joint contribute around five million euros. The financial scope of this project underlines the relevance of high -quality education for the region.
