Winter barbecues in the Amicitia hut: a festival for the whole family!

On Sunday, January 19, 2025, winter barbecues at the Amicitia hut in the Modenbach valley attracted numerous day trippers. The event was organized by the Palatinate Forest Association Annweiler and was able to look forward to a large group of participants. In bright winter skies and frosty temperatures, many families and young people enjoyed the warm atmosphere, which was characterized by many known and new faces. The culinary offer was diverse and not only included hearty from the grill, but also hot soup, homemade mulled wine, freshly brewed coffee and a selection of delicious cakes. Despite the high number of visitors and a few waiting times, the mood remained consistently positive, which impressively underlined the love of nature and the coexistence.

It should be emphasized that the Amicitia hut has no longer offered regular hospitality since autumn 2022. Nevertheless, it is estimated by many excursions due to its idyllic location and offer. From March 9, 2023, the hut opens again every Sunday and thus also offers families with children a place to linger. Long waiting times for winter barbecues were not unusual despite the high popularity, but the committed support of all helpers, be it at the grill, at the edition or by donating cakes, contributed to a smooth process.

Winter grilling not only marked a successful start to the new year, but also emphasized the community of the participants. Many children contributed to the lively mood, which made the day even more carefree. Thanks to the committed ones, who provided a smooth process behind the scenes, was omnipresent and made the event an experience that will be remembered.

The Amicitia hut will continue to play a central role and is a popular starting point for numerous outdoor enthusiasts in the region.

An example of the popularity of the hut is also shown at the family hiking day of the PWV Ramberg on September 10, 2023, in which 38 participants came together in the Modenbach valley. Here, too, the atmosphere was friendly and inviting when young and old wandered together in the traces of the Elwetritsche.

With a warm greeting, the organizers and participants hope for a nice and healthy time in nature and invite everyone to take part in the upcoming activities.
