The digital dragon tumbling: Colins adventure in Mindlock!

The developer Rouven Schumacher from Haßmersheim created an exciting point-and-click adventure with the video game "Mindlock: The Apartment". In this game, the main character Colin cannot leave his apartment because the front door has disappeared. The players have to fight through a series of action, dialogues and creative puzzles to reveal the secret.

"Mindlock" should appeal to many fans of the genre. Schumacher, who has lived in Saarland for 12 years, has developed the game alone, taking over all aspects from drawings to animations to music and programming. He already developed his passion for video games in school and specialized in this topic during his studies at the Media Art & Design University of Fine Arts in Saarbrücken. The idea for "Mindlock" came about during Corona pandemic, when people had to stay at home in quarantine.

For his work on "Mindlock", Schumacher was awarded the Game Award Saar for the best prototype in 2022 and also received a funding of 20,000 euros for production. Within just three months, he found a publisher, United Soft Media (USM), with which he was regularly in contact. The game deals with the topics of everyday routine and its effects on the life of people and offers a playing time of about four hours.

"Mindlock" was published on November 26th and received positive feedback from the well-known YouTube stars "Playful GNU" and "Gronkh". Schumacher was enthusiastic about this response and is already planning a continuation of the game.
