Stuttgart Philharmonic: Big concert with star cellist!
Next Thursday, January 20, 2025, the Stuttgart Philharmonic will bring a highly expected concert in the Neustadter Saalbau. This is the third urban subscription concert of the current season 2024/25. Under the direction of Adam Hickox, a renowned conductor who is also chief conductor of the glyndebourne festival orchestra and designated chief conductor of the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, a special musical experience is offered.
The soloist of the evening is the talented cellist Raphaela Gromes. She was born in Munich in 1991 and made a name for herself as one of the most famous German cellists. Gromes is known for her extraordinary musicality and its impressive technical skills that she has already demonstrated on international stages.
a long tradition
The Stuttgart Philharmonic looks back on a rich story that began in September 1924 with the first advertising concert. In the first few years they worked with important musicians such as Hans Knappertsbusch, Fritz Kreisler and Felix Weingartner. After the end of the Second World War, the orchestra experienced a new foundation under today's name. In the 1970s, chief conductor Hans Zanotelli led the Philharmoniker to one of the leading concert orchestras in Stuttgart and in the southwestern German area.
The successors of Zanotelli, including Wolf-Dieter Hauschild, Carlos Kalmer and Jörg-Peter Weigle, contributed to the further consolidation of the international reputation. Gabriel Feltz, who headed the orchestra from 2007 to 2016, set new standards in rehearsal work and expanded the repertoire, in particular through recordings of Gustav Mahler's Symphonies.
The current program
Aktuell has been head of the Stuttgart Philharmonic since 2015 as chief conductor. Under his leadership, the Philharmonic also became the Festival Orchestra of the Heidenheim Opera Festival. The concert cakes of the Philharmonic are primarily the Liederhalle and the Gustav-Siegle-Haus in Stuttgart.
The concert on January 20 promises to become a highlight of this year's subscription series. With Gromes on the cello and Hickox on the conductor's desk, the audience can look forward to a first -class musical experience that reflects the tradition and quality of one of the most important orchestras in Germany. The Stuttgart Philharmonic is therefore not only an integral part of the cultural landscape of Stuttgart, but also an important ambassador for classical music at an international level.
