New protective man in Neu-Isenburg: close to the citizen and committed to security!

Since the beginning of February 2025, Mario Hehl has been the new “Sutor on site” in Neu-Isenburg. He follows the main police commissioner Marco Gonnermann. Hehl, 46 years old, married and father of two children, has over 20 years of experience from the Langen police station. With his new role, he aims to represent a citizen -friendly and citizen -friendly police.

The tasks of Mario Hehl are diverse. He takes care of the concerns of the citizens in Neu-Isenburg as well as in the districts of Zeppelinheim, Gravenbruch and the Dreieicher districts of Sprendlingen and Buchschlag. The “on site” is part of the comprehensive “Compass” project of the Hessian Ministry of the Interior, which wants to develop individual security solutions in cooperation with citizens, municipalities and local security partners. Hehl plans to work preventively through daily encounters, networking with local associations, schools and institutions as well as participation in local events.

new communication channels

The place of work of Hehl is the police station in Gravenbruch, Dreiherrnsteinplatz 4. In order to strengthen the direct line to the citizens, he has introduced new speech and service times:

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
  • Thursday: 2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
  • every first Saturday of the month: 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

In addition, it is possible to notice individual appointments after prior arrangement. Hehl offers to come home to the citizens to discuss their concerns directly. This illustrates the approach of citizen -oriented police work, which is becoming increasingly important in Germany.

importance of citizens -oriented police work

Another aspect of this development is the increasing recognition of citizen -oriented police work in Germany. The Interior Ministers' Conference emphasized in its “internal security program” how important prevention and citizen -friendly police work are at the local level. Contact with the citizens is crucial because 90% of the advertisements are reimbursed by them, which underlines the need for constant exchange. Police strategists argue that the trust of the citizens in the police is crucial for their performance.

Despite the positive perception of these approaches, there are also concerns about their implementation. Critics warn that citizen -oriented police work can sometimes go hand in hand with stricter repression. Nevertheless, in the current discussion, the idea emphasizes that the police should focus more on the protection of citizens from everyday dangers.

The challenges of modern police work are therefore complex and require innovative approaches such as that of Mario Hehl in Neu-Isenburg. The way to a more citizen -friendly police is often seen as a solution to these challenges, not least due to the positive experiences as a "protective man on site" and the targeted prevention work.
