Stammtisch in Italy: Germans and Swiss meet in Ronchis!

In the Friuli-Julisch Veneto region, something is happening: The Berlin-born Carola Nitsch, who has lived in Udine for two decades, has launched an initiative that brings together German-speaking communities in the region. In search of German -speaking meetings, she found no and decided without further ado. So she founded the "Stammtisch Friuli Venezia-Giulia", which is very popular and has become a place of exchange and mutual support. The participants include people from Germany, Switzerland and even from Styria. Heinrich Radaelli from Rottenmann, who shared his search for a holiday home in the region at the last meeting, is just one of the many that gather. Susanne Neschmach from Deutschlandsberg also regularly commutes between Austria and Italy and appreciates contact with like -minded people. In the bistro "Il Biergarten" in Ronchis near Latisana, which is operated by Ingrid Munisso and her husband Danilo, the participants enjoy an exciting mix of German and Italian cuisine. Denise Gramlich and Andreas Bäumert from Frankfurt also opened a “Bed and Breakfast” in Palazzolo, which underlines the diversity of the German-Italian lifestyle in this region.

The rush at the regulars' table is so large that not all interested place can find space. Carola Nitsch promotes exchange and networking among the participants, which leads to a rain. The next meeting is already planned for the end of June/beginning of July, and registration will be made via the Facebook group "Stammtisch Friuli Venezia-Giulia". This not only shows the need for such encounters, but also how important the care of the German language and culture in Italy is.

The commitment to German culture in northern Italy is also strengthened by the Deutschzentrum Trieste , which was founded in 2021, which is devoted to the promotion of German language and culture in the region. In cooperation with the Goethe Institute, the center organizes various cultural events, language courses and training opportunities for German teachers.
